Dumbarton hold the first leg adavantage after seeing off arbroath in a nervy game at the DFS.The game started in and just 5 minutes in sons were dealt a hammer blow.Josh Falkingham whipped in a corner from the stand side of the pitch and stephen grindlay came off his line to gather the ball only to stop and leave Arbroath centre back Stewart malcom (who is about 6"5) to head in.Sons responded and Craig Dargo went on a few mazy runs the best of which was halted by Chris Innes. However they found their equaliser after 15 minutes lichties keeper Darren Hill spilled Scott Agnews rasping drive to the feet of Tony Wallace who bundled the ball home for his first top team goal The second half was a far less eventful affair former StJohnstone striker (who has found a pie aince his SPL days) went on a impressive run only to fire the ball well, well wide of stephen Grindlays goal. Then came the games turning point Arbroath right-back Mark Baxter tried to hook the ball away only to miss hit his clearence into the hands of keeper Hill ref Craig Charleston (who had a very poor night) noted this and awared sons an indirect free kick just outside the 6yard box Hill was booked for protesting, from the free kick Agnew rolled the ball to Bryan Prunty and the forward smashed in goal number 14 for the season. Both teams had a few chances after this but none of note apart from a Lee Sibanda effort for Arbroath which sailed over the bar when he should of done better.Still a good if not perfect result for sons going into tomorows second leg.3 fans buses are confirmed as going and i would urge any sons fans to get there and even if we lose you can still pick up a great fish supper!!!.
